The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is not a conventional zoo. It is a sacred forest, temple complex, conservation center, and semi-wild habitat for more than a thousand long-tailed macaques. The official site states that the sanctuary covers roughly 12.5 hectares and is home to more than 1,260 monkeys.

The best experience comes from calm observation rather than trying to touch or provoke interaction. Food, glasses, hats, bottles, loose jewelry, and phones should be secured. Follow staff instructions, avoid aggressive staring, and do not crowd monkeys that are feeding or caring for young.
