Overview — English
Located just a short walk over the hill from the bustling port of Padangbai, Blue Lagoon Beach is a hidden gem that offers a stark contrast to the busy harbor. This small, secluded cove is framed by green rocky cliffs and features a modest stretch of white sand. True to its name, the main draw of this beach is its incredibly clear, turquoise-blue water, which remains very calm during the morning hours.
Blue Lagoon is widely acknowledged as one of the best shore snorkeling spots in East Bali, especially for beginners. There is no need to hire a boat; simply wade a few meters into the water from the shoreline to discover healthy coral formations, angelfish, clownfish (Nemo), moray eels, and occasionally sea turtles. The bay is also a popular training site for beginner scuba divers. Although the beach area is narrow, there are several local warungs (cafes) built into the hillside that rent out snorkeling gear, sun loungers, and serve cold drinks and local food.
Travel Tips
Accessibility
Accessing the beach requires walking down a relatively steep and uneven flight of concrete stairs from the parking area.
The stairs and sandy terrain make it impossible for wheelchairs.

FAQ — English
Do I need to be a strong swimmer to snorkel here?
The water is very shallow and calm in the mornings. If you are not a confident swimmer, you can easily rent a life jacket from the local warungs.
Is it a white sand beach?
Yes, it has coarse white sand, but the shoreline entry into the water is quite rocky and full of broken coral, so water shoes are highly recommended.
